Project Highlight: How MMI Helped Sentix Improve Efficiency

May 27, 2025

Sentix is a premier MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) repair station and sister company to Setna iO. They recently acquired a 112,000-square-foot facility in Tempe, Arizona, in an expansion that marked a strategic leap in capability, scale, and operational ambition.

To support the increased demand and complexity of operations at the new site, Sentix partnered with MMI to engineer and install a crane system that would safely and efficiently handle heavy aircraft parts during repair and rebuilding processes.

Ultimately, MMI’s contributions to the project helped boost productivity, enhance safety, and reduce costs through precision-engineered crane solutions.

The Scope

MMI was tasked with fabricating and erecting a robust crane support structure and installing four top-running single girder bridge cranes tailored to Sentix’s specific operational needs. The scope of work included:

  • Structural steel fabrication and erection: Beams and columns to support the crane infrastructure, fabricated and installed by MMI’s skilled team
  • Crane system installation, including:

    • (2) 10-ton bridge cranes, each equipped with dual tandem 5-ton hoists
    • (2) 2-ton bridge cranes, each equipped with a single 2-ton hoist
  • Testing and certification: Test cranes loaded at 125% of their rated capacity to ensure safety and compliance, with full certification issued upon completion

Real-World Impact

With these systems in place, Sentix is positioned to drastically improve workflow efficiency, with the ability to conduct high-capacity lifts as well as frequent, lighter lifts. Overall, this allows Sentix to reduce manual handling risks as it scales up its operations, all with the confidence that the job has been done properly.

This investment in infrastructure comes at a pivotal time for Sentix. Their new facility more than triples the space of its former headquarters and sets the stage for major expansion. In fact, they will be able to expand operations and equipment from 44 served product lines to over 100 within a year. This growth is expected to create more than 130 jobs and help accelerate turnaround times for Sentix customers around the globe.

Partnering for Progress

This successful partnership between MMI and Sentix is a clear example of how smart engineering can support industrial growth, particularly in a high-stakes, precision-focused industry. With efficient crane systems from MMI as a core part of daily operations, the path is clear for continued innovation, faster delivery, and safer working conditions.
